Typography is the art and technique of arranging type. For non-designers, it can feel overwhelming, but a few basic rules can transform your work.

Hierarchy is Key

Visual hierarchy tells the reader what to look at first. Use size, weight, and color to distinguish between headings and body text. Your H1 should be the most prominent, followed by H2, and so on.

Limit Your Typefaces

A common mistake is using too many different fonts. Stick to two: one for headings and one for body text. Often, a single font family with multiple weights (like Inter) is all you need.

White Space is Your Friend

Don't crowd your text. Give it room to breathe. Proper line height (leading) and paragraph spacing make a world of difference.

Key Takeaways

  • 1

    Establish a clear visual hierarchy.

  • 2

Use no more than two font families.

  • 3

    Prioritize legibility over decoration.

  • 4

    Embrace white space.
